Know About Grahan In 2016

We are often poked by our elders for not watching Surya Grahan with naked eyes, fasting, engaging in spirituality etc. during the Grahan. But, what is the reason behind these things? Bhaiyaji tells us about the reasons behind these beliefs:
1. Why you should not watch Sun with naked eyes during Solar Eclipse?
During the solar eclipse, Sun produces more power than our eyes are designed to handle. During this time, UV rays are also produced. Many studies have concluded that watching the solar eclipse with naked eyes can lead damage to retina.
2. Why food should not be consumed during the Solar Eclipse?
Cooked food should not be taken during the eclipse because the Smritis suggest that it is not healthy. According to the traditional Indian culture, people start fasting 12 hours before the solar eclipse.
3. Why is it necessary to engage yourself into spirituality during Solar Eclipse?
As per the Shastras, any spiritual activity performed during Grahan gets Multiplied.
4. Why pregnant women should stay indoors during the Solar Eclipse?
As per the beliefs, the presence of cosmic rays in the environment during the solar eclipse could have an adverse effect on the foetus. It has been believed that pregnant ladies who peep out of their houses during the solar or lunar eclipse has high chances of suffering from miscarriages. It could also lead to birth defects and childhood cancer.
We hope that this little piece of information will help you in making your life even better.
